In need of a holiday. #phuket #thailand
We had extra time during this trip, so we planned for the Taipei Zoo! Pity we didnt have time to take the MaoKong Gondola as we missed the hours. Spent the whole day walking about the zoo enclosures, super enjoyed myself. Think the main reason was the cool weather, could forsee myself perspiring like mad if I was in S’pore zoo.
Took the train to Taipei Zoo, was very accessible and the entrance fee was very reasonable! 60-100NTD (can’t really remember)
Hello White Haired Man
Hair was slightly more manageable one day after curling it at the salon
HAPPY Like a KID
We spent about 45 mins staring at the monkeys. Just immersed in their monkey behaviour
My Better Camel Angle and Chooya’s failed camera skills
And the Star of the Taipei Zoo : Gorilla Baobao… We came here for him, we don’t have a Gorilla in Singapore, I duno why.. Since we have polar bears in such insane weather.. Such charismastic eyes, he looks super handsome.
Totally enjoyed myself like a KID
Headed back to Ximenting for dinner at the Modern Toilet Restaurant =) 3rd time in Taipei but only first time here.
Had Ah Chung Mian Xian for Supper. Damn shiok cause the weather was so cold~~
Ended off the night catching a midnight movie and walked 45 mins back to our hotel >>
Following my previous post, we headed to Taipei for the next few days. Its my 3rd time to Taipei and I still love being there as much. We spent about 5 nights in Taipei, many more things to do and more places to visit. Taichung will be a tad bored compared to Taipei.
Taipei – Jiufen and ShiFen
It was rather easy navigating to Jiufen and Shifen. We took the Taipei Railway Train to Ruifang Station and changed to a direct train to Shi-fen. due to the lack of time, and drizzly weather, we didnt make it to the waterfall.
Our Compulsory Cup of hot Coffee (Unflattering Angle )
Took a bus to JiuFen (It poured like mad) -> My sick face, Basically I had a rough time that day, was feverish, cold, in the rain, and having gastric reflux, vomited almost everything i ate.
Didn’t take many photos since it was pouring, we settled in at a tea house so that we could rest and use the toilet (hard to find clean toilets in jiufen!)
Hahaha Did stupid stuff.
The view was supposed to be awesome, overlooking the entire area but the weather was foggy and it was raining so we couldn’t see much :(
Breakfast at our favourite place
Bought a small cute haversack pouch and it totally matches with chooya’s sweater
Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall
XiMenting – Mala Steamboat and Haircut
Damn awesome steamboat with Movenpick and Hagen Daaz Ice Cream
XiMenDing – MALA YUANYANG HOTPOT

Headed for a hair cut and change of hairstyle after
Its been a long while since I went on a holiday.. Din really have time to travel since I joined my new company end last year. Really missing traveling a lot. In the very start of this year Jan 2013, my korean bf (haha) and I headed to Taiwan for 10 days. I have this thing for Koreans, don’t ask me why, I really don’t know but its just an attraction. Anything korean just attracts me.
This time we went free and easy and since it was 10 days, we had really some planning to do. Visited all kinds of places, temples, memorial halls etc. And we had much time on our hands, it was super chill. Only regret was that I wasn’t feeling that well during the entire trip, gastric attacks, feverish and cold chills, and it didn’t help that it was winter then. But still, every holiday to me is FUN.
Dad & Mum came to send us off at the airport at 12mn, was so tired eyes were all small.
Taipei – Taichung – Sun Moon Lake (Nantou)
Arrived 6am at Taoyuan International Airport, took the United bus (UBus) to the Taiwan High Speed Rail -THSR Taoyuan station. Took the High Speed Rail to Taichung HSR station then took the Nantou bus 南投客運 direct to Sun Moon Lake. Dropped our baggage at the hotel and walked around the area.
Headed to Mount Maolan Mt. Maolan Trail that was built by the Japanese in 1940. The 3km trail (a paved road actually) winds through vast tea plantations. The trailhead is about 300m past Shuishe Village. It takes about 3-4 hours round trip, which was the first exercise for us. Don’t really recommend this during the other seasons, but the weather was cold enough (13degC) for us to enjoy the walk without perspiring. Just that it was cold, drizzly and foggy, pictures aren’t really great.
Visited a few other places around the lake, and didn’t have more time cause we spent half a day at the trail =) Had dinner around our hotel but one thing worth to note is, we went during some season wherby everyone in the area eats vegetarian for some weeks (can’t remember how long but it happens only once in 10 Years!) All stores in the area only served vegetarian during this period of time, so we had Beef cup noodles in the hotel hahaha. Pathetic us. At other times, these restaurants do serve meat so don’t worry.
We stayed at Sun Moon Lake for a night, and then headed to Taichung for 2 nights :)
Sun Moon Lake (Nantou) to Taichung
We wanted to wake up early in the morning to catch the sunrise but we were dead tired, we skipped that.. The sunrise was supposedly one of the must-do at Sun Moon Lake :(
Took a bus back to Taichung Railway station but changed to Cab half way. hahaha. Finally reached our hotel in Taichung. Was quite a great difference from SunMoonLake, its more populated and more urbanized. We read about this restaurant online which we wanted to try since there was nothing much to do in Taichung. we decided to walk from our hotel since from the map it looked quite near… HAHAHA we took 2.5 hours !!!!
Left the restaurant and walked around the area. Headed to PaoChueh Temple (Giant Happy Buddha) and after that to Confucius Temple. There really isn’t much to do in Taichung hahaha
The Golden Buddha is really huge! If we stand below, our heights would only reach the black portion.
Took a bus to Fengjia Night Market. Didnt really take many shots except this of his “Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang”
Damn Shag after two long days, sat on the bench for 15 mins
Had breakfast delivered to our room the next morning
Headed back to the city, went shopping and got our new buys. Love Alex’s new Timberland Shoes
Headed to ChungXiao Night Market which was a half hour stroll from our hotel. Chooya getting swagged, the only time you can wear stripes and checkered at the same time and still not look too weird.
